This concept was a ton of fun and allowed me to learn a bunch of new software. I picked up Redshift for the first time and also took the opportunity to learn Yeti for grooming.

Compositing breakdown

Dog

Grooming is one of my favorite parts of the work I have been doing. The dog was especially fun to work on. First, who does not like to look at cute pictures of dogs for references? More seriously, the real challenge here was separating the different fur systems and blending them together.

With the fur developed on a T-Pose, it is then simple to cache it and transfer it to a rig character for either animation or posing.

Woodchucks

The woodchucks followed the exact same process as the dog. First groom on a T-Pose and then cached for animation/posing.
